The 10 Employee Rule

ESIC registration is mandatory for all businesses and establishments that employ 10 or more people. Even if an establishment’s employee count falls below the threshold later, the business remains covered under the ESIC Act.

Contribution Rates & Deadlines

  • • Employer’s Share: 3.25% of the gross wages.
  • • Employee’s Share: 0.75% of the gross wages.
  • • Monthly Due Date: Paid by the 15th of the following month.

Half-Yearly Return Filing

ESIC returns must be filed twice a year. It is mandatory to file a “nil return” if there were no contributions in a given period to maintain compliance.

April to September

Return must be filed by November 12th.

October to March

Return must be filed by May 12th.
